SHAY LOCOMOTIVE - AUTUMN SCENE Postcard
FRONT TEXT: Cadillac
BACK TEXT: Shay Locomotive - Ephraim Shay from Haring Township (just north of Cadillac, Mi) designed the Shay Locomotive in 1877. They subsequently became the most widely used geared steam engines in America. The Shays were manufactured in Lima, Ohio. After the patent expired, six Henderson-style Shays were produced in Cadillac by the Michigan Iron Works.
