Description
FRONT TEXT: Cheboygan Light
BACK TEXT: Cheboygan Crib Light - The Cheboygan Crib Light was built in 1884. It was located about 2,000 yards out into Lake Huron on a "crib" (a small, artificial island). The lighthouse keeper had to tend the kerosene light. It was a dangerous job boating from Cheboygan out to the crib and back, daily, in all types of weather. In 1920 the light was automated. By 1984 there was no longer a need for the light, and it was moved to its current location at the pier head.
